FAQ
How to Make WiFi Updates Faster/More Accurate?
To get the most accurate reading, you should stand in a spot for 10 seconds, then place a WiFi sample.
Also disable Battery Saver/Low Power mode. And disable WiFi Throttling (may require enabling Dev Mode). Both of these things can make the WiFi polling take longer.
Current network strength polling is limited by the OS. Many Android devices update this every 3 seconds. Longer if Battery Saver or Wifi Throttling is enabled.
Other networks’ strength may be updated even less frequently, on Android perhaps every 5-10 seconds. This includes Interference.
Internet speed requires performing a speed test, which takes 10 seconds to get an accurate read.
Why Am I Losing Tracking?
If you frequently lose tracking, try the following:
Ensure the environment is reasonably well-lit.
Move slowly.
Lower-end devices may have poor tracking quality, so a higher-end devices are preferred.
To regain tracking:
Try looking around for 30 seconds.
If that doesn’t work, try returning to starting point and look around for 30 seconds.
Note: advanced users may enable Debug Mode under WiVi Settings to see tracking progress.
Why are the WiFi Icons Flying Away?
If you experience this while scanning, it is best to cancel the scan. In extreme cases, restart the app.
Why Can’t I Load a Scan?
Try the following:
Return to the starting point of the scan if possible. Look around for 30 seconds.
Try loading the scan again.
In extreme cases restart the app.
Note: if the visual environment has changed significantly since the scan was taken, it may not be possible to load the scan.
How Does Interference Mode Work?
Interference mode detects WiFi channel overlap between the selected Access Point and other Access Points. Signal Strength mode shows the selected AP, and Interference mode shows the two strongest interferer APs. This is useful for channel planning.
Technically, the overlap will not cause interference unless the selected AP is used at the same time as the interferer AP. This is not measured. If this does occur, traffic will slow down on both APs.
Interference mode detects both ACI overlap (Adjacent Channel Interference) and CCI overlap (Co-Channel Interference).
How Do I Draw Walls?
While scanning, press the Place Wall button.
Look at the floor until the draw cursor appears.
Hold the Draw button, and drag a straight line on the floor. This creates a wall or obstacle which blocks the WiFi signal.
You may delete walls by clicking them, then pressing the Delete button.
Can I Autodetect Walls?
This feature is automatically enabled on devices that support it. Most Android phones do not support it, thus it is disabled on those devices by default.
If you want to try it anyway, you may enable Plane Detection Mode under WiVi Settings.
Can I Make a Bigger Scan?
Yes. Purchase the Premium version under WiVi Settings to make bigger and more scans.
You may also want to increase the sample size under WiVi Settings for large spaces.
